News from the Dominican Republic - Thursday, February 1, 2007

Greetings again from the DR!  There is a tired but happy bunch of people down here.  The work is progressing and the sun is baking us.  Running low from the 1000 cement blocks that were delivered last week, we had another 300 or 350 delivered today.  We are trying to get as many walls as possible completed up to 13 blocks high before we leave.

Incuded in the finished will be the glass crosses that the crew has given to the church.  We'll set them in the cement tomorrow and I'll have pictures for everyone.  Some of the teens and men from the church stopped by to help us again today on their way home from work.  You can see the excitement in their eyes as this building comes together for them.  We were also able to wire and install some new ceiling fans on the first floor of the churh.  Another gift from the crew, it made a huge difference in temperature down there while we were taking breaks.

After work tonight, we went shopping for coffee and gifts if we wanted any.  The markets are interesting as you can see from some pictures.

Tomorrow is the final day of work, so please pray for strength and stamina for us as we make a final push to get a lot done.  Tomorrow night we go out to the pollo restaurant to celebrate.  The birds will be flying, I can tell you.  Pastor Ramone and his family will be with us.  It will be a later night, so the pictures from Friday may not show up until Saturday morning.  We miss you all.
