Republic - Wednesday, January 31, 2007
Another
work day in sunny Santiago. Guess what? We laid block
again. The exciting part is that yesterday we finished all the
block they expected to finish for the week and are now able to lay the
walls much higher in preparation for the main columns and roof which
will be poured concrete done by a contractor.
Darryl had a great idea for the front of the church - to use those
glass blocks to form a cross in the back wall. We ran the idea
past Richie who ran it past Holly and everything is a go. This
will be a gift from the crew and will be installed as we lay the block
for those walls. Another gift from the crew will be the addition
of two new ceiling fans on the first floor. There are currently
places for four with only 2 installed. We will buy them from the
hardware store tomorrow and intall them.
Tomorrow Darryl and Paul will be touring the Christian school where Ben
and Michelle Hoffman minister. The rest of the crew has been
there before on other trips, so we will keep working.
We ate dinner at the Hoffman's house tonight and the guys are out on
the front porch back at the Vallettes playing dominos. You'd
never believe how much trash you can talk over a game with a few tiles!!
Thank you all for your prayers. Please pray for us as we work in
the hot sun. We take regular water breaks in the shade, but it
can be brutal at times.
