News from the Dominican
Republic - Monday, February 4, 2008
The
work began in full force today. We went to the church building at
Los Girasoles. Part of the group began building forms and doing
concrete work to get ready to pour side steps up to the front floor.
Fred and Gene did some electrical work. The problem with
the electric is that we have to replace and rewire a major junction box
and main feed into the building - without turning power off! The
electric company won't let us pull the meter. Fred wired the
first box today "hot" without any difficulties. He and I will
work on box #2 later in the week.
The weather has been good and we haven't had any injuries to speak of
except the few bruised ego's from domino losses. Tomorrow we will
break into two groups. One will finish the concrete steps and the
other will head to La Yaguita and Pastor Ramone's church and home to
work on the plumbing and water tower.
Please pray that supplies are delivered on time or that we can pick up what is needed.
I had the excitement of breaking from work for a bit to visit a child
that our family has been sponsoring through Compassion international.

it was sobering and exciting all at the same time to see Randi.
We've been supporting him, writing to him, and praying for him
for about a year now.
