Last
night, we lost power. Apparently a transformer blew near the
Vallettes and it can take a few hours or a few days to fix...you just
never know. They do have a battery backup in the house that lets
us run lights, etc.
Fred was feeling much better when he woke up today. Thank you all
for your prayers. Overall the crew's health is good and we
haven't had any injuries.
Darrel and Joe were able to finish the concrete work at the church.
Ad began building sign holders and shelving for the sunday school
class rooms. Fred and Gene finished most of the electric until we
came to one box with no wire in it. The electricians hadn't run
any and in the DR everything is concrete. So....the only thing to
do is take a diamond saw and cut a groover wherever you want the wire
to go and then stuff the wire in an re-mortar it shut. It got a
bit dusty around there.
Tonight the power came back on. Hot showers felt good to those
that got them. For the rest of us, even cold ones were OK.
You can see from the video below that we were able to "make do"
even under difficult conditions.
Tomorrow we want to finish up things at church, do a little shopping
for some coffee, and then we're off to Chime Jose' for a victory
celebration. We're pretty sure 10-15 birds will go down....
(For those of you who don't know, Chime is a bar-b-que cchicken
place and this crew can eat!)
We miss you all and thank you for the prayers.
