Praise the
Lord for another successful trip! His faithfulness endures and we
were able to accomplish all the work we set out to do plus a bit more.
Pastor Ramone's church is now able to continue in the process of
becoming a Compassion International sponsor project church because of
the second bathroom and security fencing that the crew was able to
build. Ramone and his family are also able to take long showers
again and enjoy running water thanks to his new 275 gallon water
tower.
The church at Los Girasoles has new lights, new temporary doors, a new sound booth, and new steps.
The physical work is only part of this trip. I can speak for the
rest of the crew - men who commit themselves each year to this week
with money from their own pockets and time from their own schedules -
when I say that the blessing has really been on us. It's hard to
explain, but being in the field with our missionaries makes the work
personal and brings it close to home. The Vallette's are not just
another name laboring in another land, but a family just like mine.
They face the same struggles and share the same joys. Their
hearts bleed for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to go to a lost and dying
generation of Dominicans. Their ministry is now my ministry.
Like the other men of the crew, we'd do just about anything for
them because they are our church family - just a few thousand miles
away!
I would encourage any and all of you who name the name of Christ, to
chose a missionary that you can actively support through letters,
prayers, and even visits. Take the time to involve yourself in
their lives and ministry. It will change you forever and God will
use it to bless their lives and yours in a way that you can't even
imagine.
Lastly, I had the unspeakable joy of visiting Randi this year.
Our family has sponsored this Compassion child over the past
year. You can click
HERE to see the
trip. I have been very impressed by Compassion as an organization
and would encourage all of you to consider sponsoring a child.
After seeing the work that Compassion does in the field, I can
assure you that the $32 a month is absolutely changing lives and
bringing Christ to children who might not otherwise hear.
Goodbye till next year! The trip is already planned, so stay tuned for the Crew 2009!
