The crew will
head down to the DR on New Years Day, Thursday January 1st. The
Vallettes have been in the States visiting family over the Christmas
holiday. Rich or "the missionary" as he is affectionately known
by the crew will be flying back to the DR with Ad, Fred, and Gene.
Gene will be there for 10 days, retuning January 10th. Ad
and Fred will be staying a few extra days until Thursday the 15th.
There are a variety of jobs at both church locations of La Yaguita and
Los Girasoles. The biggest project is new roofing from Pastor
Ramon. The weather and termites are hard on wood construction and
portions of his home/church roof have rotted out. The crew added
a new water tower last year and will return this year to replace roof
trusses and tin where required.
Since both AC power and internet can be a bit sketchy in the DR, we
will update this site daily as utilities allow. I have also
placed a "live video" section below. This is tied to the video
camera of my Blackberry. As long as cell service holds out, any
video I take with it will appear on the site in "real time."
Don't worry, though, if you miss them. They will be saved
and you should be able to watch the recorded version.
How can you help? Please be in prayer for the crew - for safety,
good weather, a supply of building material, and funds to make all this
possible. Also, if you feel led to help in a financial way
towards the work, you can email the crew in the upper right corner of
this page. We will be checking email, even while in the DR.
Any pledged gift given while we are down there can be used and
you can settle up with Gene on his return.
